I look forward to every minute that makes the day longer. Last month it was dark at 5 pm and now it's light until after 6. In St. George, where we have been spending as much time as possible, it seems like it should be light longer because it's warmer. But, darn it, it's still winter and the days are still short. Darkness falls so early that I turn on every light in the house, play happy music, and try to distract myself from the the evenings that drag on and on. Snow is expected in Logan - but everyone was surprised when it snowed in St. George for several minutes as we were going into Anasazi restaurant. We were excited to have a nice steak dinner with Pat and Mark and Spence and Melanie and the cold weather couldn't deter us. Once inside, we and other diners hurried to the big picture windows to see the snow come down. And of course, Scott was on the porch taking videos. We haven't seen snow there for a couple of years. Kinda exciting for a few minutes. But SO cold.
Here's a great quote about the slow arrival of spring....
"The shortest day has passed, and whatever nastiness of weather we may look forward to in January and February, at least we notice that the days are getting longer. Minute by minute they lengthen out. It takes some weeks before we become aware of the change. It is imperceptible even as the growth of a child, as you watch it day by day, until the moment comes when with a start of delighted surprise we realize that we can stay out of doors in a twilight lasting for another quarter of a precious hour."
